After years in arts administration and publishing (BCFBooks) I am enjoying exploring the world of a practicing artist. There are so many exciting materials to use and ideas to work with that I find it hard to pin myself down, however dry point etching and screen printing are currently dominating my work. With occasional experiments with acrylic paints and collage. Recently I have been using off cuts from my prints to create small collages. I am also interested in the genre of artists' books both making them myself and recently creating and publishing books to promote British Artists' Book makers and fine presses . Titles : 'In Praise of Beautiful Books', 'British Artists' Book Makers' or both books in one wrap around cover 'An Abundance of Books'. (can be ordered via www.bcfbooks.co.uk)
I have travelled a great deal in India so my work is often influenced by the colours and particularly the archways of that fascinating country. However I also love the countryside in Cornwall and Alonnisos ( a Greek island). I spent the first two months of 2016 sailing, in a tall ship, from Antigua to Panama followed by a few weeks backpacking in Cuba, a great experience creating many more images just waiting to be processed - I would like to find a way to translate the feelings these landscapes evoke.
Still being fairly new to the exhibition circuit I have not many to list but I have taken part in a few Somerset Art Weeks; several group shows at The Ilminster Art Centre and a number with SCAN (Somerset Contemporary Artist's Network) at local galleries and (most exciting for me, to date) I have been lucky to be hung in three Mixed Opens at the RWA in Bristol and once at the Atkinson Gallery at Millfield.
